FINE.No owner inscrptn but minimal residual 'ghost' evidence of adhesive paper label corners incompletely removed to front free endpaper - not exxcessive nor obtrusive.Bright,crisp,clean, sharp-cornered,glossy,wrap-around pink background with colour pictorial artwork by Janet & Anne Grahame Johnstone,illustrated glazed boards (a boy+girl leaning back-to-back, in contemporary/period costumes,each reading from a children's book and a single,centrally placed,colour pictorial tin soldier illustration) to front and back boards respectively,and with black+gold lettering to front,black lettered lightly sunned(?) pale pink spine/backstrip,rear panel with aforementioned colour pictorial tin soldier illustration and no text/lettering present.Negligible shelf-wear, bumping,creasing to edges and corners - no nicks,tears or splits present and boards most unusually,virtually scoring/indent-free.Top+fore -edges with page coloured edges and clean; contents bright,tight,crisp+clean,solid and sound - virtually pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners - appears unread, other than my own collation.UK,slim Qrto HB,no dw/dj - as issued,1st edn,includes 28pp [unpaginated - includes verso+recto of respective brown background with white silhouetted cut-outs design illustrated free endpapers] with colour illustrations to all pages by Janet + Anne Grahame Johnstone throughout.Stories include Little Ida's Flowers, The Steadfast Tin Soldier,The Happy Family,and Ole Luckoie or the Dustman. Visually the exterior appearance is exceptional for a book of it's age and its nature, i.e a child's book,and even internally,the book is also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation.It is only the minor interior fault described,that prevents a slightly higher grading.Despite that,it really is an exceptional copy for brightness and cleanliness. Highly collected and prolific children's book illustrators,a scarce and unusual item/ephemera in Janet and Anne Grahame Johnstone's bold style and will be an important and welcome addition to the A & J Grahame Johnstone's canon.
